Practical Driving Test Fees/ Terms of conditions
The practical driving test fees are calculated on hours needed for the driving test and your pre-test lesson at the hourly rate which is the same cost as your driving lessons. The practical test and pre-test lessons price is calculated from the time picking you up to dropping you off after the test as KSL instructors cannot be available for instruction to other pupils during your practical driving test time. Your driving instructor will inform you of the cost for your test and lesson when they agree that the practical driving test can take place.
Early morning test times are charged at a premium rate as this means an early start to the driving instructors day and the potential need for them to postpone the lesson later in the day due to tiredness from an early start. KSL advises against booking early morning tests especially in the winter due to darker mornings and unpredictable weather.
Due to the long delay waiting for a practical driving test date, it is becoming more frequent that pupils are booking a last minute cancellation.
Last minute cancellation tests should only be booked in consultation with your driving instructor as these are often 1-2 days in advance, the following morning or at a weekend. KSL driving instructors may have other driving tests at the date of your cancellation test or have prior engagements so they may not be available at short notice. In this situation you will be required to make alternate arrangements to take your practical driving test using your own vehicle or cancel the test which will mean you lose your test fee.
If your driving instructor does not think you are at the driving test standard to pass your driving test then KSL will refuse the use of their instructor car and you will need to make alternate arrangements using either your own vehicle of finding an alternate driving school which may be difficult at very short notice. This could result in you losing your driving test fee as the short notice will not enable you to move the date. You have to give 3 working days to move a driving test without losing your fee. Monday to Saturday counts as working days but does not include a Sunday.
